    Description

It's time to dig out those old 45's and have a party with
    The Redhead
    In STEREO
    On your Classic
    RCA Victor
    45 RPM Player
Ever since we introduced our replacement idler wheel, the
    only one
available featuring a genuine Oilite bearing for superior performance and precision made for the Classic RCA Victor RP-168 & RP-190 45 RPM Automatic Record Changers many of our customers have requested, and a few demanded, that we design and manufacture the highest quality replacement cartridge and in
    STEREO!
    The
    REDHEAD
Stereo Conversion Cartridge Kit is now available!
    Step One
We pre-test every cartridge for sound quality and output in
our Blue-Arm test jig featuring a custom made plug-in tone-arm.
    Step Two
We believe that soldering output leads to a cartridge is an unprofessional
shortcut. The amount of heat necessary to insure a good connection creates
the risk of damage to the cartridge with degraded sound quality that may show
    up now or later.
We assemble a high quality harness with precision connectors and the
    finest Belden shielded Tone-Arm cable.
    Step Three
The cartridge mounting angle was confirmed by comparing to a
commercial turntable by Innotech that uses the identical cartridge.
    Step Four
Every completed Redhead cartridge is tested for
exceptional performance in our Clear-Arm test jig
    Step Five
    The complete
    Redhead
    Stereo Cartridge Conversion Kit
    includes:
    *
    Redhead
cartridge with Stereo needle and attached shielded cable.
    * Three-foot Stereo connecting cable with tinned leads.
    * Terminal strip.
    * Clamp, nut & washer to secure cables.
    * Extra needle.
As shown below installation is straightforward.
For best results your RCA RP-168 or RP-190
45 RPM record changer should be in good condition.
    Installation Instructions
The Classic RCA Victor 45 RPM Automatic Record Changers were
designed and manufactured before the introduction of Stereo 45 records.
However, with our Super Sound 45
    REDHEAD
    Stereo Cartridge
Conversion Kit and a little effort you can create a wonderful
mini jukebox to add to your stereo system.
The RP-168 or RP-190 player must be in good condition.
The idler wheel, rubber motor mounts and cycle cam need
to be checked and replaced as necessary.
The tone arm must move freely with no binding.
Clean and lubricate the motor to insure correct speed.
    1)
Remove and discard the old cartridge, tone arm wiring and the mute switch.
    2)
Carefully install the new cartridge using the original screws and new washers provided.
    3)
Secure the shielded tone arm wire with the original metal clips or discard the clips and use a drop of epoxy to secure to the plastic shell.
    4)
Install the three-terminal strip using the original mute switch mounting screw.
    5)
Connect the wiring as shown in the photo. The shielded ground wire from the cartridge and from the RCA stereo connecting cable are soldered to the center terminal which grounds them to the turntable. The right and left channel wires are attached and soldered to the end terminals as shown.
    6)
Install the cable clamp with the included nut and washer to secure the output cable
    and power cord as shown.
    7)
The conversion cartridge weighs just about the same as the original cartridge however you may need to "fine-tune" the counterbalance for best performance.
